Building a 20-Piece Capsule Wardrobe
The essentials that quietly cover 90% of days.

A capsule isn't about owning less for its own sake. It's about owning things that work together so getting dressed takes ten seconds.
Pick a two-colour foundation
One neutral (black, navy, or charcoal) and one warm (off-white, tan, or olive). Every piece has to play with these two.
Five tops, three bottoms, two layers
That's ten pieces and roughly thirty outfits. Add a jacket, a pair of jeans, and two shoes and you're covered for months.
Fabric over label
Cotton, linen, wool, cashmere. Skip the shiny synthetic blends. They pill, they smell faster, and they don't age.
Fit twice
First fit in the changing room. Second fit at home, in your mirror, with the shoes you'd actually wear. Most returns start with skipping step two.
Replace, don't add
A capsule fails the moment it grows. When a shirt wears out, it earns the right to be replaced — not doubled up on.
Twenty pieces done well outperform a wardrobe of eighty every single morning.
